UPDATE 9/8/20: New Jersey Small and Micro Business PPE Access Program
SOURCE: Business.NJ.gov
The NJ PPE Access Program will help ensure that New Jersey's small and micro businesses and non-profit organizations have access to the PPE they need for their operations, their employees, and their customers.
Launching in early September, the first phase of the program will provide small businesses with:
An online PPE planning tool (developed with the New Jersey Department of Health) to ensure that small and micro business know what PPE they need for their business
Links to pre-selected online PPE retailers that will offer businesses:
At minimum 10% off their PPE purchases
Assurances of product quality
Clear and transparent product offerings and pricing
A limited number of choices to make shopping easier
Assuming the first phase is successful, the State intends to expand the program with a second phase that will include $11 million in funding to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of PPE purchased by certain small and micro businesses through the pre-selected online PPE retailers (or "Designated Vendors").
In addition, the first phase of the program will offer a $3.5 million pool of funding to encourage the Designated Vendors to purchase PPE that is manufactured here in New Jersey or sourced from a small wholesaler in a historically underserved community (i.e., located in one of the 715 census tracts that were eligible to be selected as a New Jersey Opportunity Zone).
Each Designated Vendor will be evaluated by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and must meet minimum size, experience, and legal screening criteria. In addition, each Designated Vendor will pledge to meet the Program's performance requirements, including offering discounts and a tailored section of high-quality products.
The first version of the online PPE planning tool and discounted retailer links are expected to launch in early September.
Companies interested in becoming a Designated Vendor under the NJ PPE Access Program should visit the "Designated Vendor Application" to apply. Interested parties can also reach out to NJEDA staff at: SmallBusinessPPE@njeda.com.
